and does the voice of the Joker
Welcome back to GamerCatz! We're up to episode 5 already, and having a great time.
What we're playing lately:
FrostyNuts—Modern Warfare 2
N'Eligahn—Sonic 4
Jae Onasi—Lord of the Rings Online and Star Trek Online
Our discussion—are games becoming too easy? Are the stories becoming too simple? We share our views on story length, quality, and difficulty sliders. How is DLC going to affect game story length? We share our views, and look forward to hearing yours.
Gaming News!
Story 1: Captain America: Super Soldier due in 2011. Let's see—a game based on a movie based on a comic book. Gee, I can't imagine how good this one will be. Zombie Nazis, anyone?
Dear Mark Hamill: We'll miss you as the voice of the Joker. Just don't release any more crappy movies. Yes, we did go off on a tangent to that Adult Swim video where Darth Vader Calls the Emperor.
Story 2: Raven Software lays off 40 people
The Madison, WI-based Singularity and Wolfenstein developer Raven Software laid off 40 people after completing the game “Singularity”. According to Kotaku, “Activision did confirm that restructuring occurred, stating, "With the recent completion of Singularity, Raven Software is realigning its workforce to better reflect the studio's upcoming slate.”

Raven was founded in 1990 by brothers Brian and Steve Raffel and has worked on games including Marvel: Ultimate Alliance and X-Men II: Rise of the Apocalypse. It has also worked closely with id Software on games including Quake 4 and Wolfenstein. Activision acquired the studio in 1997.
Soldier of Fortune (2000)
Star Trek: Voyager Elite Force: Virtual Voyager (2001)
X-Men Legends (2004)
Quake 4 (2005)
Wolfenstein (2009)
Singularity (2010)
We, of course, blame Kotick for all problems, including any pronunciation issues during this podcast.
Story 3:
World of Warcraft decides to cap guilds at 1,000 members. They dislike discussion of this so much they've locked threads and banned a couple members. Our questions—why the shut-down of discussion, and why cap guild size anyway? You've got 12 million accounts, Blizzard, you CAN actually buy a slightly bigger server now and then to accommodate the .001% of guilds that are above the 1,000 member cap. Check out the thread on the Blizzard forums. Also check out these threads here, and also here.
Story 4: Are consumers ready for 3-D? We chat about the pros and cons of 3-D TV, along with the Nintendo 3DS that will be coming out the end of this year or sometime next year. We also discuss the news about Star Wars being re-released in 3-D.
Do we REALLY want to see Jar-Jar's tongue in 3-D? We Catz categorically say, NO!!!!
